Karl Environmental Group provides regular training classes for the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (HCP) course at our new training facility located in Reading, PA. Karl Environmental Group’s First Aid and CPR instructors are fully accredited by the American Heart Association.
Who Needs Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification?
The AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers class is designed for professionals who are required to have CPR certification for their workplace and may be required to respond to a medical emergency. Job roles that typically require BLS certification include:
- Medical Professionals (Doctors, Nurses, Dentists)
- Medical Facility Administrative Staff and Assistants
- Medical Laboratory Technicians
- Paramedics & EMTs

What Do the Basic Life Support (BLS) Classes Cover?
The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (HCP) course is an instructor-led, video-based class that teaches students how to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest and choking. The BLS course focuses on providing high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED use.
Students learn one-and two-rescuer CPR and AED techniques for adults, children, and infants, as well as bask-mask techniques, rescue breathing, and relief of choking. At the end of the class, students must pass a written exam and exhibit proficient skills as part of a hands-on skills assessment.
How Long is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Valid?
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive an American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course completion card valid for 2 years.
Do You Offer Basic Life Support (BLS) Renewal Classes?
Yes! Karl Environmental Group provides both Initial and Renewal BLS classes. Renewal students must bring a copy of their current AHA certification or may choose to complete the Initial class instead.
How Long is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Class?
Classes are typically 4 hour long (depending on class size).

Yes! In addition to our training facility located in Reading, PA, our instructors serve Southeastern Pennsylvania (Berks County, Montgomery County, Lancaster County, Chester County, Delaware County, Greater Philadelphia) and most of New Jersey.
