Asbestos Supervisor Training Classes
An Asbestos Supervisor (Contractor) is required to maintain proper training and certification in order to conduct asbestos-containing materials (ACM) abatement activities. For initial certification, an Asbestos Supervisor must first successfully complete a 40-hour training course. To maintain their certification, Asbestos Supervisors are required to attend annual 8 hour refresher classes. Proper training is required under the Pennsylvania Asbestos Occupations Accreditation and Certification Act of 1990. Supervisors are required to have an authentic Supervisor certificate at all times at every work site. Supervisors must also meet the requirements of EPA and OSHA regulations during the course of the abatement project.
Karl Environmental’s Asbestos Supervisor Class
Karl Environmental Group, accredited by the PA Department of Labor & Industry (L&I), provides EPA-approved Asbestos Supervisor refresher courses which are essential for re-certification. The refresher course is a 1 day (8 hour) class that covers the essential components of the initial course and is specific to the Supervisor’s level. Medical monitoring and air monitoring procedures are properly demonstrated in this class. In addition, students will review asbestos health effects, appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and updated local, state and federal regulations.
Before the course begins, each student must prove they have previously taken the initial asbestos working training course by providing a copy of their certificate. A complete course manual is provided for study during the class and is allowed to be taken home with the trainee for future reference. Documentation will be supplied to the PA Department of Labor & Industry for each student as well as a take-home certificate that provides proof of completion.
